The Republic has had all the speed signs in metric (metric only) when I
drove thru the south-central portion of the island more than a decade ago.

Can any of the European readers of this list comment
on how well known is the fact that Ireland converted
their highways to SI? Last week while speaking with
some visitors from the UK (pretty knowledgeable ones
at that), they were all surprised when conversation
brought that topic up. None of them seemed to know
that the Republic of Ireland now used metric speed
limits.
