I've been watching many of the space walks this week as my good friends
sister is the shuttle commander. As we all know the measurement of
choice is English and they routinely discuss issues in English units.
The NASA commentary is always in English (IE. the station is xx nautical
miles above Africa) but several of the space walkers will slip into
metric once in a while. The other day they were talking about how far
one element of the station was to the pont were it was to be connected
and the distance estimates were in meters. Another time there was a
reference to "a few centimeters to go". BTW these were our domestic
Astronauts not visiting ones.
