Here's a good reason to have dual Wombat and Metric information on a web site, in this case it's Jet Blue. I have only a kg scale at home so wrote asking for the information. Baggage limit is just over 1 kg! (see below). I wrote back, "that's only 1 can of tomatoes". We'll see if this gets them to include the information on their web site. I hope they can keep it to whole kilograms instead of the unnecessary accuracy given here. The 70 ounce figure below I think was the carry on liquid figure, so I can take a couple of kg here, what they really mean is fluid ounces.

Spoke to someone at Dulles airport who works for the TSA (Transportation Security Administration) about the carry on liquid limits, apparently they are told 3,4 fluid ounces or 100 mL. not that you can find this on the TSA web site which lists only 3 ounces (not fluid ounces). I've written to their web master about 3 times and it's still the same. Another Federal Agency that seems to ignore Federal Law on the use of metric units.

Dear Mr. Payne,

Thank you for once again contacting JetBlue Airways regarding baggage guidelines in metrics. We
appreciate the opportunity to provide you with the following information.

We apologize for any confusion about allowable baggage. We do not use the metric system however this
is what I have found:

Each checked bag must NOT exceed 62 inches in overall dimensions (length plus width plus height) and can NOT exceed 50 pounds. This is 157.4800 centimeters overall and 1417.48 grams or 1.41748
kilograms.

Carry on bags must fall meet the following criteria:

A carry-on cannot exceed: 24 inches length x 16 inches width x 10 inches height which is 60.96 cm x 40.64 cm x 25.40 cm in order to fit in the overhead bin. To fit under the seat in front of you the carry-on or personal item cannot exceed: 18 inches length x 15 inches width x 8 inches height which
is 45.72 cm x 38.1 cm x 20.32 cm.

The Transportation Security Administration directive 3-1-1 for carry-on baggage = 3 oz bottle or less; 1 quart-sized, clear, plastic, zip-top bag; 1 bag per Customer placed in screening bin. One-quart bag per person limits the total liquid volume each traveler can bring. 3 oz container size
is a security measure.

By the way 70 ounces is 1.98447 kilograms.

We hope you find this information helpful and look forward to welcoming you onboard JetBlue this
evening.

Sincerely,

Jenny

*Your website did not answer the question I posed.* Your web site does
not even include the metric size and states you are limited to a 3 oz
container, surely you mean a 3 fl oz container, a 3 oz container is a
container that weights 3 ounces. *United States Code Title 15 **Chapter
6. Sec. 205b.* States that the SI metric system is the preferred system
for weights and measures in the United States, so where is the
information? If you had listed metric we would not be having a
conversation about ambiguous sizes and weights.

Comments: Your check in states 70 ounces of bathroom supplies. How many kg would that be? Federal law states the metric system as the preferred system for trade and commerce of which this is the
latter.
