I have sent the following message to the two Democratic candidates (with each Senator's individual name substituted, of course):

Legislation making the metric system the preferred system of weights and measures in the US was adopted in 1975 and 1988, yet we still see mostly old English units in the grocery store, on the highways, in our school rooms, etc.

Adopting metric across the board would be beneficial to the economy by bolstering foreign trade (since all other counties use metric) and by saving time, money and effort in American manufacturing and business (since the metric system is simpler).

As president, what would Sen. <name> do promote the acceptance and use of metric by the American people?
