Dear All,

I found this item on the 'Common Cents' blog at: http:// people.consolidated.net/blessyou/

Recession

Recently, Joseph Stiglitz attributed the recession to massive spending on the War in Iraq. But the lack of metrication might be another cause. If domestic demand slows, exporting products usually will help companies weather troubling times. Exporting works because it gets rid of the excess goods that are unneeded in the domestic market. But these items are labeled or manufactured primarily in Colonial units, which makes them worthless until it becomes metricated. I don't know why some in Congress are supporting the destruction of our country through voluntary metrication?

Cheers,
