When I was in Portugal working on a construction project, at one time I had
misplaced the measuring tape. (Several people brought measuring tapes, but I
was the only one who brought a tape with metric on it.) I didn't know what
it's called in Portuguese, so I couldn't ask the Portuguese construction
worker if he'd seen it. When I found it, I asked him, and he said it's "a
fita metrica" (which I've said in Spanish sometimes, even though "fita" isn't
Spanish). If a measuring tape does not have metric units, is it still uma
fita metrica?
