I have just sent this off to the editors at Science magazine.
Jim
Dear Editors,
Would you please start using proper unit formating for temperatures? A
space that is supposed to be inserted between the numeral and the symbol
°C. And, no, the space does NOT go between the raised circle and the C.
Should you be concerned about a word wrap at the end of a line falling
at this spot, you can use a thin, non-breaking space.
Please see the defining document for the SI at
http://www.bipm.org/en/si/si_brochure/chapter5/5-3-2.html
especially section 5.3.3 paragraph 2.
I applaud the editors of Science magazine for leading the way in
American journalism for proper use of the SI. I hope that the comment
above will be useful to you in making an improvement.
