Dear USMA Listserver Subscribers and supporters of U.S. Metrication,

Please do NOT use http://www.change.org/us_metric_association_inc for donations
or any other communication !!

A few years ago, USMA enrolled in Guidestar, a database of non-profit
organizations. Our Executive Board thought that this would be a good medium of
exposure for our organization. However, the new "idea" Web site, change.org,
has set up a Web page using Guidestar data, without USMA's permission, and has
also included an online device for accepting donations to USMA by credit card,
also an arrangement we did not authorize specifically.

I have contacted the CEO of change.org as well as the Guidestar staff, and
asked both organizations to remove USMA from both change.org and Guidestar.
This request does not reflect negatively on either organization; it is just
because the recent transactions between these sites have gone far beyond our
control. We did not intend to solicit funds through Guidestar, nor did we
intend that such a solicitation arrangement could be borrowed by another online
entity in our name. Most important, USMA has not set up this donation device.
If you attempt to donate to USMA using your credit card, we do not know where
that money will go. We have not asked that it go to us. Again, please do not
attempt to donate to USMA on the change.org site noted above!

Thank you for your careful attention to this message, and, as always, thank
you, everybody, for your interest in U.S. metrication. Let's keep our eyes on
the prize.

SI-incerely,
