Hi everybody,

Assuming that the United States government decides to finally opt for the SI
system, does anybody have a rough idea of how long it would take for the USA
to totally implement the metric system throughout the country? Some things
would need to change first such as education, while other sectors such as
the aviation industry will probably be one of the last things to fully
change over to the metric system. Not only will all components have to be
measured and designed in millimeters and kilograms, but, and here is the
tricky bit, how long will it take for altitude to fully change from feet to
metres? That's not a typo, Australia and probably the UK spells metres this
way and not 'meters', by which we mean an instrument that could measure the
quantity of an item consumed such as water, electricity, gas, etc.

I hope everybody is keeping OK and that everybody is looking and listening
for anything the incoming Obama-Biden administration might say about the SI
system. I can tell you one thing for sure and that is that they have got my
full attention from the 20th January onwards.

Sincerely and respectfully yours, John Candido.
