Mr Lozyniak. Thanks for your question. My wife and I visited Europe
around the time I started Metric Pioneer. I purchased the metric-only
tape measures, Celsius-only thermometers and kg-only weight scales in
Paris (they seem to be unavailable in the United States). Shipping
them back home to Oregon was VERY expensive. The high price is my
attempt to recoup my cost. I have very few scales for sale; nobody
bought any weight scales yet, no doubt for the reasons you point out.
At best, people looking at the metric-only weight scale will be
inspired to flip the switch to kg on the weight scales they already
have in their homes. I appreciate your interest and I hope you write
back. Please consider becoming a Metric Pioneer Member; it is easy to
register (top left corner). I would be happy to send you a
complementary SI Ruler; just let me know where to send it (USA address
only).

Why does the metric scale cost $150?
I can buy an electronic scale here in the U.S. and set it to
kilogram mode. Not all electronic scales here have kilogram mode,
but many do, and one that does can be bought for $15 or $20. (I got
mine at IKEA for about $13, I think.)
I think that it is funny that the scale goes up to 150kg. Given the
capacity, one would think it was made for use in the U.S., but given
the markings, I am sure it wasn't.
