I will take this opportunity to encourage all listserver members to join USMA if they are not already members of that organization.

No non-government, non-industrial group that I know of has supported metrication of the United States nearly to the extent that USMA has. And I've been deeply involved with metric standards groups for over 20 years now!

Just one example of what USMA has provided is this listserver itself. We enjoy using it free of charge and yet USMA staff has arranged hosting for it and has maintained it (not a trivial matter!) for many, many years. If you're not a USMA member, you're getting a free ride.

In addition, USMA is the go-to source for metric information in the U.S. outside of the U.S. Government itself. The officers and supporters of USMA answer many questions every year and give frequent interviews. They do some prodigious campaigning, too!

The cost of membership is very low and yet your dues will go a long way to supporting this effort. So, unless you would prefer to donate money to NIST or to commercial enterprises such as IEEE, ASTM, or ASW then this is the place to put your money ... where your mouth is.

So, be a sport and provide support!

To the USMA list:

The first Metric Today e-newsletter was sent today to USMA dues-paying
members with email addresses on file.

If you are a USMA member and did not receive the newsletter, please let
me know.

Or if not a member, you can join USMA, as I know there are listserver
members who do not support USMA directly.
