Hi Martin, Character 176 (decimal) or 00B0 (hex) gives the symbol "°". How you get this symbol onto your computer depends on your application.
The correct symbol (not abbreviation) for degrees Celsius is "°C", preceded by a space - thus "40 °C". The standard is silent about the use of narrow spaces in this context. (See http://www.bipm.org/en/publications/si-brochure/section5-3.html). When using the limited ASCII character set, how do you write the symbol for the degree Celsius? Is it 40 oC, using the rule that there is to be a space between the numeral and the symbol. Or is it 40oC, as one commonly sees it in print?
