Applications are invited for a PhD studentship in software radio for satellite
communications. The work will be based within the Telecommunications Research
Centre in the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering at the
University of Limerick, Limerick, Ireland. The student will be supervised by Dr
Jacqueline Walker and Dr Bob Strunz. The studentship is open from October 2017
and will remain open until filled.
The goal of the project is to develop a specialised satellite modem for
precision time transfer using an SDR platform and open source software such as
GNURadio. The approach will be to build in both flexibility and configurability
while still providing the precision and accuracy required for a time transfer
application.
