While not directly related to that issue it would be good if you could
take a look at http://sourceware.org/systemtap/wiki/utrace/arch/HowTo
and convert xtensa to new-style ptrace code described there.  That should
also make your future maintaince easier by requiring less and better
structured architecture code.
