Well, it's a bit more than I chat room, but I occasionally do some work
on the Cold Project, which is a virtual environment server. You can use
it for anything from a dynamic web server to a MUD, but it would serve
as a chat room equally well, and it's easily extendible via an internal
language called ColdC. See www.cold.org for more info. I think the ftp
download link may be broken, if it is and you're interested, drop me a
line and I'll get you the files. It's got a BSD-ish license, which is
arguably less restrictive than GPL even, so it's free to use.
