I've just aquired an older laptop that I would like to
try a BSD on. But I'm not sure which one I should try.
I know that OpenBSD focuses on security. but that's
about it. I know that Jon prefers OpenBSD and John
prefers FreeBSD, but what about NetBSD? At this point,
after reading some, I'm more inclined to try FreeBSD,
the documentation seems more complete. Would anyone
like to expound on the different BSD's, how well they
perform, what the strengths are of the different ones,
etc. Note: This will end up being a minimal install.
This laptop is a 70 Mhz wil 24 Megs of RAM 486.
Getting X on it would be nice, but certainly not
necessary. I'm looking for keeping as much space as I
can on my little 570 Meg harddrive. I know that people
have gotten Linux, and FreeBSD on this machine, with a
working X so My hopes are high. (fluxbox here we
come!)
