Ammon, You'll get more informative error messages and faster download speeds if you drop IE for a real FTP client (gftp*, wget, ncftp in Linux or ws-ftp, cuteFTP, or SmartFTP in Windows). Even Mozilla will do a better job of letting you know what's going on.
Also, if you just bring $3 to the System Programmers office in 1140 TMCB, we can hand you an already-burned copy of RedHat8.0. -Dave * gftp is graphical and cool.
