I have this same problem when I use dual monitors. It boots just fine and I
can log in, but if I try to log out, it hangs. None of the keys work (can't
kill the X session), and the mouse is just the null X. It looks like X is
still running in some state and the mouse still moves, but nothing goes
anywhere. Oh, but if I choose shutdown or reboot, it doesn't hang. Ditto if
I only run one monitor.
