the in a tower i have was a piece of junk... wafer thin and then broke.
so, i went to EBC and bought the most expensive and best one they had.
it's almost two inches high and is the biggest CPU fan i've ever seen. the problem is that is is LOUD!
i am going to be converting the tower into a server and would like to leave it on all the time. that's not going to work though unless it's quiet. anyone recommend any good fans that are QUIET?
The trick is to get a heat sink that's HUGE, and put a smaller fan on it. Keep in mind that "HUGE" in a heatsink means more surface area, not more bulk. Have a look at this article:
