Note that the machine does not _only_ run NFS, but also Samba and most likely an LDAP replica. And, as was mentioned by Michael Torrie, NFS runs with many processes (we've experimented with everything from 32 to 128), as does Samba. Watching top, by the way, is really cool on a 4 CPU machine with hyperthreading. It shows 8 CPUs. Very cool. For the record, the CPUs aren't the saving grace of this machine. Its real power lies in the faster disks and SCSI controller. Not to mention the improved PCI bus.
