If I were you, I would boot Knoppix and try to do CD burning with that.
If CD burning won't work, I would still use Knoppix in conjunction with
a USB zip drive. Failing that, stick a network card in it (assuming it
doesn't already have one), boot Knoppix and scp your files to another
Linux box (assuming you have another Linux box). :)
