Here's another vote for xbindkeys. Once it's installed, just add it to
your startup programs in the sessions section of preferences. I use
xbindkeys_config for setting keys and such. As an added bonus, xbindkeys
works for setting the special keys on my keyboard for things like xmms
and mute. Finally, your window manager won't make any difference. I've
used xbindkeys with both Gnome and KDE successfully and with no changes
to its configuration at all. All in all, it's a pretty great piece of
software.
