> BYU is no longer creating usenet newsgroups for classes in favor of > Blackboard. [EMAIL PROTECTED]@%#$^# I strongly dislike blackboard in all shapes and forms but most especially as a communication medium. OTOH I loved using class newsgroups although they were not used by a very high percentage of the classes. (The people that did use them were the ones that got higher grades, however)
Why did nobody use the newsgroups? Because most people only knew about them as 'discussion groups' available in route y. Who wants to participate in a belaboured web-based discussion group? (some do, I know) Now the useful news client interface is gone and _nobody_ will use online discussion groups. Looks like we're back to physical study groups. > I do not know if past content is still available. I have noticed in the past that newsgroups disappear at the end of the semester. I seriously doubt they are archived anywhere. -- Hans Fugal | De gustibus non disputandum est. http://hans.fugal.net/ | Debian, vim, mutt, ruby, text, gpg http://gdmxml.fugal.net/ | WindowMaker, gaim, UTF-8, RISC, JS Bach --------------------------------------------------------------------- GnuPG Fingerprint: 6940 87C5 6610 567F 1E95 CB5E FC98 E8CD E0AA D460
