[EMAIL PROTECTED]@%#$^# I strongly dislike blackboard in all shapes and forms but
most especially as a communication medium. OTOH I loved using class
newsgroups although they were not used by a very high percentage of the
classes. (The people that did use them were the ones that got higher
grades, however)

Why did nobody use the newsgroups? Because most people only knew about
them as 'discussion groups' available in route y. Who wants to
participate in a belaboured web-based discussion group? (some do, I
know) Now the useful news client interface is gone and _nobody_ will use
online discussion groups. Looks like we're back to physical study
groups.

I have noticed in the past that newsgroups disappear at the end of the
semester. I seriously doubt they are archived anywhere.
