Okay, I've been watching domain questions on the list, and I'm about ready
to buy deccio.net, but I have a few final questions that the UUG can
probably answer better than I can:

1. I plan on hosting mail/web on my own machine (instead of paying someone
to host it). I like the control and the learning experience, but... has
anyone found that to be a pain?

no. it's wonderful.

2. I'm looking at GoDaddy.com (it's been well recommended by the list, and
it looks like it has pretty decent services and prices).

yes, they're the best i've found.

When I register
deccio.net, what does it take for me to resolve the actual server names
(e.g., www.deccio.net, mail.deccio.net, etc.). Do I run some sort of
secondary DNS on my machine?

yes.

3. If I get fed up with hosting it myself, can I have anyone host it at anytime?

yes. just point the DNS to the new server. (at godaddy, you just log into their web admin panel and change the server addresses)

4. Is changing where a domain points to a painful process using GoDaddy, or
is it pretty straight-forward?

easy as pie.

Any advice from GoDaddy users (or anyone else who can offer) is greatly appreciated

Thanks,
Casey
