Yeah, there's a great idea. Suddenly, everybody that attends that conference is prohibited from contributing code to any open source project because they've been "tainted."
My favorite promise from the ad is "up to the minute disclosures." I realize that they're playing off of the James Bond metaphor, but that still sounds like "come to our conference and we'll show you our code." Honestly folks, I would be hesitant to attend anything where SCO has a presence, just on the fear that they may use my attendance to disqualify me from ever touching Linux code. Oh, and on the topic of permission to use the James Bond theme, scroll to the bottom of this page: http://www.sco.com/2003forum/ But one interesting thing I found in their legal notice might interest you all a bit. It seems like the typical un-warantee until the last three words: SCO EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES AND/OR CONDITIONS, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, AS TO ANY MATTER WHATSOEVER RELATING TO OR REFERENCED BY THE SCO WEB SITE, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES AND/OR CONDITIONS OF MERCHANTABILITY OR SATISFACTORY QUALITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON INFRINGEMENT. A little ironic, wouldn't you say? :-) -Brent ____________________ BYU Unix Users Group http://uug.byu.edu/ ___________________________________________________________________ List Info: http://uug.byu.edu/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/uug-list
