HP does have a fairly large product line based on Linux. But as the previous poster mentioned, it is all about marketing. To the masses, HP hasn't pushed linux that hard in the past. They have pushed it better than Dell, which really doesn't do Linux at all, despite their claims. You can get a Dell with Linux on it for a server, but not a desktop presently, at least not according to their television ads and marketing campaigns. Also, HP did lose a huge amount of appeal to existing linux geeks when they dumped Perens (even though I'm sure Perens isn't totally innocent in his firing). I love HP printers and Linux, though. Many of their printers (even some inkjets) support Postscript and PCL, making them truly useful printers, unlike the winprinters, although HP has better support in Linux for their winprinters than almost all venders. So I do solute HP's efforts. I will watch for their Linux ads on TV > > Nothing against IBM at all, I'm very grateful for their backing of Linux > too, but just because HP didn't paint Linux graffiti on New York > sidewalks doesn't mean they are just a fair-weather friend of Linux. :P Of course. When the money dries up, I expect IBM to move on to the next big thing. Anyway. I'm grateful for corporate support generally. > > Bryan > > P.S.
