I've been trying to install gnu C and have hit a snag that hopefully will seem like
cake to you all.

I got it bunzipped and untarred and went to ./configure and things seemed good until I
got this error (involving setenv
). Well, the man page and the net isn't really clearing up any of my confusion with
setenv, and I was wondering if you could tell me what commands I should use, etc...

[EMAIL PROTECTED] gcc-3.3.1]$ ./configure
Configuring for a i686-pc-linux-gnuoldld host.
Created "Makefile" in /usr/tmp/gcc-3.3.1 using "mt-frag"
./configure: line 8: cc: command not found
***The command 'cc -o conftest -g conftest.c' failed.
***You must set the environment variable CC to a working compiler.

The problem is, I don't think I have a compiler, which I think is SO WEIRD. Redhat
7.2 doesn't come with a compiler? I couldn't find C anywhere, so that was why I was
downloading it to install it. Seems like a catch-22 to me.

Weird wild stuff.
