[uug] A scripting question

I have files named something like auto-1, auto-2, auto-3 and I want to 
copy them to another directory and name them noauto-1, noauto-2, etc.  
What is the easiest way to go about this?  I know I could do it in 
perl, but I would like to have some alternate suggestions.
