In my mission (Ecuador Guayaquil North) we weren't allowed to drink "cola negra" (black soda - thank goodness rootbeer is brown, not that they sold it there) but I hope we made it clear to the people that it was a missionary-only rule. We tried.

Some investigators in my mission were very confused because some Elders in the past refused Coke, explaining to them that members of the Church shouldn't drink Coke. An Elder who followed them, when asked what he would like to drink, asked for a Coke...
