This is Glen's message, but he's having problems sending it.

So thanx to Hans Fugal, I have a Debian user mode linux filesystem. In
my haste, I told Hans not to set up networking. I assured him I could
set it up. However, I'm getting some jacked up errors. I set up the host
machine with a tap0 device(as per the UML networking instructions), then
when I fire up UML, and type:
# ifconfig eth0 192.168.0.254 up
The following errors occur:

modprobe: modprobe: Can't open dependencies file
/lib/modules/2.4.19-5um/modules.dep (No such file or directory)
SIOCSIFADDR: No such device
modprobe: modprobe: Can't open dependencies file
/lib/modules/2.4.19-5um/modules.dep (No such file or directory)
eth0: ERROR while getting interface flags: No such device
modprobe: modprobe: Can't open dependencies file
/lib/modules/2.4.19-5um/modules.dep (No such file or directory)
eth0: ERROR while getting interface flags: No such device

I'm not exactly sure what to do now. Is there some kind of inconsistency
with the UML rpm I installed and the filesystem? Any help is
appreciated.
