Any PCMCIA gurus out there? I'm running RH9 on my laptop and recompiled the kernel to enable ACPI power management, but now the PCMCIA service is having problems. When I boot, it says the service starts fine, but when I try to use cardctl, it tells me 'no pcmcia driver in /proc/devices'. The boot log indicates that when the PCMCIA service starts, it can't find some modules, but the modules are in the correct places (at least they are in the same places as the modules for the original kernel). Any suggestions?

I had a similar problem just last night. It cleared up when I upgraded kernel-pcmcia-cs. The funny thing was that it was the linux-wlan-ng that seemed to have killed it, but upgrading my kernel took care of the problems i was having with orinoco_cs anyway so no big deal.
