"meta" is a word/prefix that I don't believe should be used very often at
all because it has so many different meanings. Most likely in this
(meta-distribution) implementation it conveys "a higher state of
development". Many times you'll run into "meta-data". In this form, it
helps the noun "data" to mean "Data that contains information about Data."

Because of it's many uses, some hacker groups use "meta" in a comical way by
throwing it infront of just about anything. (i.e. "This is a
meta-definition." and "I have a lot of meta-work to do.")

Matt

PS Use "meta" during a business presentation and they'll think you know
what you're talking about.
