I used to have my linksys wifi card working with the 2.4.20 gss kernel.
gs-sources for you gentooers out there. But ever since I booted
into windows to play bzflag and windows decided to destroy my hdd, I
haven't been able to get wireless working again. Everytime I plugin
the wifi card, the LCD gets vertical bars on it, and the computer
requires a hard reset. I have dropped and nearly broke the wifi card,
but that was before I had these troubles and the card still worked.
I have tried the 2.4.20 kernel (non gs-sources, I can't find a 2.4.20
gs-sources kernel anymore), 2.4.22, and two 2.6.0 releases. I have
tried using both the in kernel wifi stuff, and linux-wlan-ng and
pcmcia-cs (not at the same time though, obviously). All to no avail.
I am at a complete loss, and I need some help. Any help would be
appreciated. I have an HP ze1210 laptop with the OZ6912 PCMCIA to
PCI bridge by O2 Micro. I have the linksys WPC11 wifi card. I had
it working once, but I can't get it working since I had to reinstall. I
basically would like test two things. First, I would like to see if my
wifi card will cork in another laptop. Second, I would like to see if
another wifi card will work on my laptop. So if any of you have a
linksys, or probably netgear wifi card, and would be willing to help, I
would appreciate it. Since I can't afford to buy another wifi
card/laptop just to test things out.
