I once salvaged a Sony Viao that was drowned in some sort of drink. It wouldn't power on, it may have shown battery charge light (not sure). Anyway, the case was that the liquid shorted an internal battery. The manual said that if that battery is dead, the laptop won't boot and this internal battery can be charged through AC. I left it plugged into a power source for over 24hrs and it worked just fine after that -hopefully you will be as lucky.
