This does work (I've used it several times for progress output from
long-running web-page-invoked scripts). However, without some fancy
JavaScript DOM mangling, this seems limited to a continuous linear
display of the new information. Not sure if this would work for
Michael's jeapordy server-client push (that is what this is for, isn't
it, Michael? :)
