You've got a couple of options. Java for PPC always lags a bit. Probably the most up-to-date version of Java will be from Blackdown. Personally, though, I liked the JDK you can get from IBM. You'll have to dig a bit on IBM's developerWorks site to find it, but right next the the x86 version is a PPC version. (Although they label it for their servers, it will work just find on your home machine because it's the same chip.
