So, I have a piece of music that is "freely available" online, downloadable
(legally!) at places such as mp3.com... unfortunately, it has a built-in
license that actually prevents WinMediaPlayer from burning it to cd, and other
programs from allowing it to be converted to a different format... i want to
have this song as an mp3, in part to listen to in xmms (which refuses on my
comp to play wma files) and in part to listen to it with my mp3 player (which
specifically only recognizes mp3)... by my understanding of copyright laws,
this ought to be considered fair use... does anybody know of how i could
(legally) convert this, or do i have to actually pay 12$ for a cd that i only
want one song off of?
thanks,
~Erin
