From what I've heard from some folks in the Mormon History realm (even faithful LDS historians) not all of their work has employed very rigorous scholarship, which some Mormon scholars feel has hindered the work as much as it has helped it. On the other hand, I have read some very good articles in the Journal of Book of Mormon Studies. I'd need to read more before I can give a first-hand opinion though.Hope I'm not touching any nerves here, but... I had an ancient history professor once who wasn't a big fan of FARMS. To, umm. To put it lightly.
