Ooh, that sounds nice. However, this is something the fedora people will eventually address natively. yum works OK for me for plain old updates, "flying straight and level" but I find it quite lacks the power and features of portage. Haven't tried apt-get yet. Fedora comes set up for yum, though there's not much to set up since yum is pretty much just a front end to rpm with a wget like tool thrown in for good measure. I think it has potential.
