Hey all-
Ive got a small job offer for anyone willing to help out. Some of
you may have noticed previous posts about the UltraSPARC-10 machine that I
have and my troubles trying to set it up as a web server. Well, I failed
miserably at trying to set it up, so my boss decided that itd be best to
just hire it out. So here I am with an opportunity for anyone who wants to
make a bit of extra cash. The company I work for is non-profit R&D for
education so the web server is a must. We are nearing completion of our
first prototype and really want to be able to collect the data, but of
course, no dice if we dont get this server up and running.
So here's what we have:
-Debian Woody running on a Sun UltraSPARC-10 (SPARC architecture, of course)
-A static IP
-Apache Web Server
And here's what we need:
-Fix the network setup for the machine (you can currently browse to the
static IP and see Apache's default web page, but for some reason, you can't
get outside the box from within, so you can't browse anywhere- not even lynx
works :)
-Tomcat plugin for apache (or we can switch over to tomcat standalone or
resin- we just need the java servlet functionality)
-The standard C++ library (needed by Blackdown JDK and is currently
unreachable (see network note above))
-To port the current Servlet (which has been tested on a windowsXP/x86
machine) to the Linux box and verify that it is working correctly.
I really don't know how long all that will take- it doesn't seem like it
would take too much, but I guess you never know, eh? The work should have
been done long ago and they've already paid a bit for it, but they'd be
willing to pay. Contact me off-list at [EMAIL PROTECTED] if you're
interested and I'll be happy to give the details.
