gentlemen (and ladies), so I'm moving an ftp server to a redhat enterprise server 3 from a redhat linux 7.2 box.
7.2 had wuftp RHE3 has vsftp Anybody had any experience moving from one to the other? I'm about to jump into the vsftp docs, but I wanted to do a quick survey to find if others had info on the topic. Are the config files similar, etc? Also, It appears that RHE3 and RH72 use different hashing functions for the /etc/passwd file (I created a root user on the RHE3 box and compared the hash to the RH72 box and they are different.) I suppose this means I cannot simply copy over the /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow files to move the users over.
