Root ssh logins that you do not know about is bad news. Most likely, this means that your system was compromised.
promiscuous mode messages means somebody sniffing the net on your box with something like tcpdump or snort. The treason messages could possibly be the result of the hacker running some weird stealth scans or trying exploits from your box, or it could be, if the system is not firewalled well, the result of some external attack.
