Question, is it gcc-3.3.4-r* you're upgrading to? (and what from?) (I'm
running -r1).  When I upgraded to this version I didn't notice anything,
went really smoothly. You shouldn't have to upgrade glibc or the kernel.
This is my experience with upgrading gcc.
