Well, did a little googling, looks like Yoper doesn't do deb packages.
From what you where saying, I thought it was a debian based distro.
You'll have to see if there's rpm packages for yopper that give you the
virtual machine dummy. And I'm not so sure any more if those
update-alternatives would apply anymore. At this point, I would
probably just forget the dummy package and link /usr/bin/java and
/usr/bin/javac to /usr/local/lib/jdk/bin/java and
/usr/local/lib/jdk/bin/javac respectively. Then you may have to set your
classpath somehow, probably in .bashrc.
