Cause it doesn't do a better job.  OS X's ftp access is restricted to
read-only.  Pretty much makes it useless for the types of situations
where you'd need a real ftp program.  This limitation is really
frustrating for many users.  We finally had one faculty member who just
ended up using Windows XP in virtual pc to drag and drop ftp stuff.
