It's alive!!! After having to exchange the Linksys 32-bit PCMCIA card for an SMC 16/32 bit (yes it says it does both) PCMCIA card, and after installing some PCMCIA modules for Debian - it works.
Having the laptop hard drive hooked up to a desktop with fully dissimilar hardware, running a netinstall of Debian Sarge, and putting the hard drive back into the laptop - I only had to reconfigure X and "everything works". Well... enough works. My 133Mhz 16MB Thinkpad 760ED can SSH into my desktop while the two are connected to the same hub. There are things that don't work though... like I can't SSH into the CS labs. The cursor just hangs on the next line after running the command. Pinging the CS labs fails as well - but more interestingly (at least to me) is that pinging the 'next stop' in my internet connection fails too. My IP is 10.7.223.* and pinging 10.7.223.1 fails. Any pointers?? Surely it isn't failing because my laptop is too slow - is it? -Rich ____________________ BYU Unix Users Group http://uug.byu.edu/ ___________________________________________________________________ List Info: http://uug.byu.edu/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/uug-list
