This has generally been my approach, both to limit the size of the iso and to avoid confusing people who might be experiencing OSS for the first time. (Although I think there may be some overlap, particularly in the multimedia packages that were part of the disc before I ever started -- and I have never bothered to evaluate them for duplcation of function.)
