? I've edited multi hundred megabyte files with VIM without a problem. It's my understanding that vim'll load the whole file upfront
Which is the problem. Loading the whole file up front can take a _LONG_ time (several minutes), and sometimes croaks because there is not enough memory/swap/etc. I want an editor that is ready for editing in 20 seconds or less, and with a file this size, vim takes quite a while.
