Try typing ALT-CRTL-F1 to get back to the terminal. log in, then do a ps
-A and find *dm (gdm, kdm, etc...) and kill it with sudo. You may need
to unload your previous driver module (lsmod, rmmod). When you are
ready, you can then type startx (runs and logs you in) or the *dm that
you killed to get it running where you have to log in.
