I've posted my blank 10 GB image to http://www.torriefamily.org/~torriem/vm1.tar.gz. Yes it is 1KB (one kilobyte). That's because the disk image itself is blank but will grow to 10 GB. To boot from iso images and things you'll have to modify the .vmx file. Follow the instructions on the web pages listed on the other vmplayer posts for manipulating the settings in the vmx file.

For serious work, I recommend checking out that 100 GB vmplayer image someone mentioned on the other thread. That will give you more room to grow.

To install the special windows drivers, download the vmware professional trial tarball (you don't need a license code to do that) and extract the windows.iso file and put it in your vmx file. This will let you install teh vmware tools package to make it easier to enter and leave the vm. There are similar drivers for linux too (the important one is the mouse, called vmmouse or something).

Since the image is so small, I'm attaching it to this post also.

Michael
